Board Recruitment – Volunteer

We are currently looking for Trustees to join our Board of Directors. Being a Trustee can offer a rewarding personal and professional development experience. It is a wonderful opportunity to use your skills and experience to help shape the organisation, support people, and contribute to our strategies.

We are particularly interested in welcoming service members, those from a relevant charity or mental health background, and young people, onto our Board to help us with fresh perspectives and energy into our planning. No previous Board experience is necessary, as training is provided.

Trainee Counsellors

Currently we have completed the process of recruiting new Trainees and the interviews will take place in September 2025. 

At Stepping Stones, our counselling is provided by professional, trainee and volunteer counsellors. All of our counsellors can enjoy working as part of our team, in a busy service. As we have been operating for more than 30 years, we are well established in our local community. At Stepping Stones, we aim to facilitate learning and growth. We also offer support and encourage positive outcomes for all of our members, as well as all of our team

We have a good working relationship with several counselling qualification providers. We take trainees from the courses below:

  • Centre of Therapy (Diploma in Counselling and Groupwork),
  • Persona Counselling (Post Graduate Diploma/MSc in Psychological Wellbeing, Counselling and Psychotherapy),
  • University of Strathclyde (MSc Counselling and Psychotherapy),
  • Glasgow Caledonian University (D.Psych in Counselling Psychology).
  • ACT Therapy Training.

Volunteer Counsellors – we are not currently recruiting for volunteer counsellors.

We request that volunteer counsellors who are applying for a post in Stepping Stones are fully qualified. You may decide to volunteer with us because it would allow you to continue to develop your counselling experience or maybe even work towards accreditation. While you are in this post, you will be reimbursed for any related costs such as travelling and supervision.

Trainees and/or volunteer counsellors should apply by sending an email containing a CV (no more than 2 sides of A4 paper using 12 point font) and cover letter to our Placement Educators as listed below.
